At Shine A Light Art, every painting I create is born on a graphic tablet. I use a Graphic Tablet, using a powerful digital painting software program. Many people don’t realise that painting can happen entirely on a screen, and digital painting is a vibrant, modern art form that gives me complete freedom to bring what I see in my mind into reality.
What Is Digital Painting?
Unlike traditional painting with physical brushes, paint, and canvas, a graphic tablet works like an endless sketchbook and studio all in one. Using a special pen, I draw and paint directly onto a digital surface that responds to my hand just like paper or canvas would, but with no limits.
My Tools: XP Pen Pro & ArtRage 6
I paint with an XP Pen Artist Pro tablet and ArtRage 6 software, which lets me blend, smudge, layer, and experiment endlessly. The brushes and tools mimic oils, watercolours, pencils, inks, and more, so I can choose exactly the right texture and feel for each painting.

Digital painting matches my creative flow perfectly. When I receive an image or impression for a Light Painting in my mind, I can follow it immediately! No waiting for paint to dry, no wasted materials, nor limits on colour or scale. If something wants to shift mid-flow, I can adapt in an instant. The art evolves as the vision evolves!
